Bench testing is a technique exclusively offered by La Marzocco Australia, with our own dedicated bench testing team ensuring each hand-built machine is running perfectly before making its way to it’s new home. Find out how our team prepares your machine, by visiting our Melbourne showroom.

Our bench testing team – Anthony Chiera, Hamish Ewen, Nick Byrne and Drew Handcock – hand-test each La Marzocco coffee machine at our Melbourne showroom when it arrives from our headquarters in Florence, Italy. Our team take care in each machine, ensuring it makes the perfect cup from its very first pour.

We know world-class coffee experiences all come down to one moment: the first time you turn on your machine and brew your debut shot. It is our commitment to that first impression and start of your coffee journey, that drives our ‘why’.

It’s the beginning of making a great cup of coffee, but it’s also the moment when you become a member of our international community of coffee lovers, united by passion.

what is bench testing?

Our team begins by carefully unpacking your coffee machine and conducting a thorough inspection, both externally and internally, to identify any inconsistencies in its components and accessories.

Once everything is in order, the machine is filled with filtered water and connected to power, ensuring it starts without any issue.

The machine is run for a minimum of 24 hours to monitor any overheating or leakage and to test all functions. It is turned on and off multiple times, adjusting buttons and knobs, testing steam pressure, and checking the lights and gauges. If you have requested any customisations, such as our timber kits, these customised details are all carefully hand-fitted.

Finally, the machine is thoroughly cleaned, repackaged with care and is stamped to show it has met our quality assurance standards and is ready for your bench top.

what happens if we discover a fault?

If an issue is discovered, our experts repair any faults with our commercial grade componentry, which is also made in our headquarters in Florence. This way, the integrity of each part of your machine is guaranteed.

Our Italian team does such an amazing job of building these machines. They travel a long way, from Italy to Australia, on the other side of the world. It’s a privilege to make sure they arrive with our customers presented in the best possible way.” — Anthony
