The Jay Grinder is built on simplicity, designed to fit naturally into busy café service. Fast, consistent, and easy to use, without adding unnecessary complexity. Jay pars it back to the essentials, returning to an analogue screen, tactile buttons, and a workflow that feels inherently easy, to a seasoned barista or a new hire in training.
We placed Jay on the bar at Veneziano Coffee Roasters Melbourne Roastery and HQ to observe its
performance in a real café setting, where early trials are delivering strong results, in terms of workflow and within the cup.

Lachlan Hall from Veneziano walked us through his experience, describing the Jay grinder as “reliable and consistent… a classic grinder distilled down to its fundamentals, with a few great innovations added without feeling like it’s trying to reinvent the wheel.”
Working through daily service, the baristas at Veneziano Melbourne HQ found Jay’s interface is found to be intuitive, with adjustments that can be made quickly and reliably, and low retention that supports consistent dosing throughout the day. Jay’s compact size allows for easy integration into existing bar setups without disruption.
Aesthetically, Jay’s sleek design looks right at home next to any La Marzocco machine. For teams already familiar with La Marzocco equipment, the transition is seamless. As Lachlan noted, “if you’ve used an LM product before the interface and programming will be familiar.”
standout sweetness and clarity
Across a range of coffees, the Jay grinder continued to deliver a flavour profile defined by balance, sweetness, and clarity. Single origin espressos expressed clean flavour separation, lively acidity, and a composed structure.
The Jay performed particularly well with fruit-forward coffees and longer-ratio extractions, allowing nuance to come through clearly in the cup. Grind quality played a key role in Jay’s performance on the Veneziano Coffee Roasters HQ bar. As Lachlan noted, “the grinds are very fluffy and clump-free, making
distribution very consistent,” supporting even extraction and reliable results cup.
The Jay’s approach is simple and effective. Prioritise balance and sweetness over density. For Lachlan at Veneziano, that difference was clear from the start: “I really enjoyed the quality of coffee that the Jay produced. It offers something unique to other grinders I’ve worked with.”

designed with intention
The Jay’s compact form and clean interface make it easy to incorporate into modern café environments. Its familiarity for La Marzocco users reduces training time and supports quick adoption across teams, while looking perfectly paired next to any La Marzocco machine. Balancing form and function, Jay fits naturally into specialty cafés where both performance and design matter.

where jay performs best
For Veneziano, initial testing revealed a clear sweet spot: specialty cafés focused on single origins or feature espresso programs, particularly those prioritising clarity and sweetness.
a distinct identity
For Veneziano, the Jay grinder stands out by focusing on what matters most: reliability, simplicity, and cup quality. It delivers consistent performance and refined flavour through an intuitive, no-fuss experience. As Veneziano says, “in terms of a reliable, non-complicated grinder it nails the brief.”
Engineered for clarity and built for service. Jay keeps coffee simple without negotiating on quality.
