A milestone that recognises our commitment to people, community and the planet, and challenges us to keep doing better.

We’re proud to share that La Marzocco is now a Certified B Corporation™, joining a global community of businesses working to create positive impact for people and the planet.

It’s an important milestone in our almost 100-year history, and one that reflects many of the values that have long shaped the way La Marzocco designs, manufactures and supports its equipment, works with people and participates in the communities around us.

La Marzocco is also the first manufacturing company in the espresso machine industry to achieve B Corp Certification.

What does being B Corp Certified mean?

B Corp Certification is administered by B Lab, a non-profit organisation that assesses businesses against standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Certification looks beyond the products a company makes or the services it provides. Instead, the B Impact Assessment considers the impact of the business as a whole across five key areas:

  • Governance
  • Workers
  • Community
  • Environment
  • Customers

Businesses must achieve a minimum verified score of 80 points and undergo a rigorous review process before certification is granted.

La Marzocco achieved a B Impact Score of 84.4.

For us, that score represents both an achievement and a starting point.

Built to last. Supported for life.

In Australia, many of the principles behind B Corp will feel familiar to the customers, technicians, roasters and café operators who have worked with La Marzocco over the years.

We have long believed that professional coffee equipment should be designed for longevity.

Creating machines that are durable, repairable and supported throughout their working life is central to the way we approach our products. It is also increasingly important as our industry considers how equipment choices can contribute to reducing waste and supporting a more circular economy.

Our commitment to sustainability and circularity sits alongside the performance and reliability expected from La Marzocco equipment. Globally, this includes a data-driven decarbonisation pathway and a commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across La Marzocco’s entire value chain by 2050.

Becoming B Corp Certified provides another framework through which we can measure that progress and hold ourselves accountable.

People and coffee communities matter

Coffee has always been about more than equipment.

La Marzocco has been built on relationships: with the people who work within our business, the technicians who keep machines running, the roasters and partners we work alongside, and the cafés and baristas who bring hospitality to life every day.

That is particularly meaningful here in Australia.

We are fortunate to be part of one of the world’s most established and progressive specialty coffee communities. Our role within it extends beyond supplying equipment. It means supporting the people and businesses that continue to push Australian coffee forward, sharing knowledge and creating opportunities for the community to connect.

B Corp Certification formalises the importance of those relationships alongside environmental responsibility and good governance as measures of a successful business.

Why B Corp?

Pursuing B Corp Certification gave La Marzocco the opportunity to take values already embedded within the company and put them through an independent and structured assessment.

It required us to measure our impact, formalise processes and demonstrate how our business practices align with internationally recognised B Corp standards.

Importantly, certification isn’t an end point.

The B Corp framework gives us a way to identify where we can improve, measure our progress and continue adapting our practices as environmental and social expectations evolve.

As La Marzocco CEO Lorenzo Carboni explains:

We have always pursued excellence, and the B Corp framework is the environment in which we want to operate. Our commitment across the five Impact Areas reflects the interdependence between our technology, people, and the environment.

What happens next?

For La Marzocco Australia, becoming part of the B Corp community strengthens our commitment to thinking about the impact we make through the decisions we take every day.

It means continuing to champion equipment designed for longevity and repairability. It means supporting the specialty coffee community and the people within it. And it means continuing to look critically at where we can reduce our environmental impact and operate more responsibly.

Most importantly, it gives us a framework for continuing to improve. Because making equipment that lasts is part of our responsibility. Supporting the people who use it is another. And making sure we’re building a business capable of contributing positively to the next generation of coffee is something we’re proud to keep working towards.

Built to last. Supported for life. Now proudly B Corp Certified.
