Like the Modbar espresso machine, the Sydney Swans Football Club thrives on high-performance, elite coffee, and a love of bringing people together.
Here, we visited the brand-new Sydney Swans HQ and asked Chief Operating Officer, Drew Arthurson, to tell us more about why they chose the Modbar system to guarantee excellent coffees and maximize community enjoyment.
Drew first encountered Modbar in downtown Manhattan in 2015 where the design and quality of coffee impressed him. After a decade of planning and fundraising, investing in quality coffee equipment proved to be the best decision, and Drew was clear on Modbar being the ideal solution:
“We’re a high-performance organisation, and as I imagine everyone appreciates, coffee is essential to performance…We wanted to create a great campfire environment here at the Swans HQ, and make it feel like everyone’s second home.”
Deciding against hiring dedicated baristas, the club instead utilised the user-friendly Modbar, and opted for a hands-on approach where everyone participates in coffee-making. The training process involved initial sessions by our La Marzocco team, followed by ongoing training led by their nominated ’Coffee Captains’.
With this approach, the club has cultivated an inspiring culture of learning and skill-sharing, promoting friendly competitions around coffee skills like espresso making and latte art.
